Business Philosophy
I've worked for all types of companies, large and small. I know their inner workings and understand what makes them tick. Allow me to present the advantages I pose in contrast to them.
Genuine Expertise
When you deal with a programming company, your work is usually given to whichever programmer happens to be available at the time. Even if a company claims a team structure, the bulk of the effort is usually performed by one person. In most web development companies, programmers are often treated as interchangable parts, regardless their experience or level of expertise. During previous employment, I've been presented as a "guru" for something with which I've barely ever worked. When I was an intern during college, I barely understood web development but my work was billed at over a hundred dollars an hour. The actual experienced programmers are often not the ones doing the work for you. If you utilize my services, you'll receive the work of an experienced professional at a much lower rate than the big guys.
No Sub-Contracting
When you hire a company, you expect that they will be the ones creating what you pay for. Increasingly, this is not the case. The big guys have discovered that sending loose requirements for your project overseas to development farms while still billing you at a high rate is very profitable for them. The truth is, what you get back is most likely not what you asked for. Second- (or third-) hand requirements do well to lose the intent of your project. How can somebody you've never met, who's half a world away, possibly understand what you want?
Beware the Buzzwords
I'm in the business of programming to help you create a great website, not trying to sell you everything you don't need. I don't spout buzzwords to make things sound more difficult than they are or confuse you. I cut through the mumbo-jumbo to help you get what you want, and to advise you best on what you need.
No Affiliations
If a business is partnered with a large technology company, it's in their best interest to sell the technology that makes their "partnership" happy. I have no such partnerships; as a result I can help you choose the technology you truly need based upon time, cost, and effort considerations -- without bias.
I've worked in the industry for many years and have seen clients hoodwinked time and again. That's why I've struck out on my own and created Curtis-e Consulting. I have years of valuable experience and a desire to help you get what you need. I won't sell you anything unnecessary in order to squeeze more hours into a contract. My motivations are different; I have no quarterly sales targets or other distractions. This setup is advantageous for me as well. I understand that a lasting relationship based upon honesty and customer satisfaction is far better in the long run for both of us.
